I jumped on a plane back in July to Gloucestershire to photograph Richard and Sanja's wedding. I have know both Richard and Sanja from I think 4 previous weddings which they have attended and I have photographed. I rarely advertise as a photographer which when I get weddings like this, it really makes me happy that my previous customers have recommended me to their friends.

Paul used to own the Book Shop in Victoria Street, Alderney. Deeply into his books Paul sits in the bar and I used to serve him coffee. One day I said to myself, He is a very well known local on Alderney, and what a character! I would very much like to photograph him. One day I was helping Paul carrying boxes of books up the flight of stairs for him when I thought, now would be a good time to ask him! We arranged a date for when I was to come and take photographs.

Later that week I turned up with my camera, no posing or 'look at the camera', I just asked him to read. and occasionally I would ask him a question and for his response he would look at me (behind the camera). I think it worked really well, these are the photos I like to take- Natural.
